Desert Stealth Recon Scout | Rifle
A specially-built rifle with wide deployment across the New Hayesalian Army has granted long-range striking abilities to every New Hayesalian infantry platoon. The weapon is renown for firing the super-powerful .338 Lapua Magnum round, shared by the GD Lightweight Machine Gun.
The SRS is designed to be effective over the whole engagement range, out to a maximum of 1850 metres. The SRS uses a bullpup design and telescoping bolt that retains the entire barrel length of 26 inches to maintain incredible accuracy, despite being in a platform roughly the size of the M16 rifle.
The weight of the rifle is held around the centre of the rifle, where the pistol grip is located. Stability is greatly increased, as is manoeuvrability. A height-adjustable cheek piece comes as standard to assist in finding an optimal position and shields from temperature extremes.
While the NH Military issues the SRS in the .338 LM calibre, there is a total of 7 calibres available and special forces soldiers may elect to change to these calibres. An ambidextrous magazine release comes standard, and left-handed models are available. A quick-deploy monopod is installed on a spring on the butt of the weapon, taking weight off the weapon's rear and giving even more support to the shooter.
The weapon is paired with match ammunition, and made from high grade polymers mixed with aircraft-grade aluminium to keep weight to absolute minimums, as well as durable coatings. The barrel itself is free-floating as is the trigger system.
A carbine model is issued to soldiers dependent on the situation. Soldiers typically prefer the shorter carbine variant, and rely on the longer model when the need for long-range engagements is expected.
The weapon uses a bolt action, and while this increases accuracy it may present an issue for soldiers who are to also undertake urban operations. As such, members of the Military issued this weapon are also issued a Model 15 Personal Defence Weapon for urban operations and similar missions, or may have a Ripper Mk3 carbine with the THeMIS system or organic vehicle transport.
