F21 | HEAVY TORPEDO
The F21 Heavy Torpedo is a 553 millimetre torpedo developed for New Hayesalian Military
service, and can be launched from aircraft, ships, and submarines.
The F21 is 19.6 feet long 21 inches in diameter and has two sets of propellers. It's speed -- due to the use of powerful electric battery - is more than 50 knots over a distance of 50 nautical miles.
The torpedo is wire-guided, connected to the submarine by an optical fiber that allows information exchange between the submarine and the weapon. The F21 can also operate without wire guidance by using an acoustic homing system that can detect and track targets autonomously.
The F21 is equipped with a complete “sonar suite” and an advanced mission system both with extremely high computing power allowing real-time combined complex signal and data processing, the F21 torpedo maintains a clear tactical picture even in the most confined coastal areas and against the most sophisticated torpedo defence systems.
The F21 is powered by a new generation of silver oxide-aluminium (AgO-Al) sea-water primary battery using dissolved sodium dioxide powder as electrolyte and incorporating a new electronic closed loop electrolyte circulation system. The battery delivers power and energy independently of the depth. In comparison with silverzinc and other technologies, AgO-Al energy density is unrivalled. It ensures both maximum speed beyond 50 knots and endurance around 1 hour without compromising safety.
The electric battery of the submarine allows for an exceptionally quiet operation.
